Sonographic Assessment of Multiple Gestations
About Course
Overview
The course “Sonographic Assessment of Multiple Gestations” is designed to provide healthcare professionals and ultrasound technicians with a comprehensive understanding of the specialized scanning protocols required for multiple gestations. This course covers the following critical topics:
- Identification and Labelling of the Number of Fetuses: Learn the techniques for accurately identifying and consistently labelling each fetus throughout the pregnancy.
- Chorionicity/Amnionicity or Type of Placentation: Understand how to determine the number and location of placentas, identify the presence of dividing membranes, and assess fetal gender.
- Amniotic Fluid (AF) Assessment: Gain skills in the qualitative assessment of amniotic fluid and measuring the maximum vertical pocket (MVP) for each sac.
- Anatomic Evaluation: Conduct a thorough anatomic evaluation of each fetus, following protocols similar to those used for singletons.
- Fetal Biometry: Perform separate fetal measurements for each twin, and recognize and interpret growth discrepancies.
- Growth Discordance: Identify and manage significant size discrepancies between fetuses, understanding the implications for conditions such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
The course material includes high-quality video lesson, course notes and ISUOG practice guidelines, providing a well-rounded and practical learning experience. Participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary for effective sonographic assessment and management of multiple gestations, contributing to improved outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
